On 14 September 2011, PLC Construction gave a free webinar on the changes to the Construction Act 1996. The webinar is now available to view on demand.
On 14 September 2011, PLC Construction broadcasted a webinar on the changes to Part II of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (Construction Act 1996) to be introduced by Part 8 of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 (LDEDC Act 2009) on 1 October 2011 in England and Wales. The webinar is now available on demand, to view at your convenience.
Our guest speakers were John Hughes-D'Aeth, partner, Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP and Lynne McCafferty, barrister, 4 Pump Court. John and Lynne considered:
  • The changes to the statutory payment rules for construction contracts.
  • The effects of the extension of the Construction Act 1996 to oral contracts.
  • How adjudication will change for construction contracts dated on or after 1 October 2011, including possible developments affecting adjudication enforcement in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC).
Following the webinar, we have uploaded a selection of materials, including suggested answers to some of the questions we did not have time to cover during the broadcast. A quiz, which may entitle you to a further 30 minutes of CPD, is also available.
